CAPRICORN SEASON

Welcome to Capricorn season! It’s time to lay the foundations and set intentions for the year ahead. Good things come to those who wait - that’s what Capricorn season wants to teach us.

As Capricorn is ruled by the planet Saturn, the daddy of the zodiac, this is a time for us to practice the art of control and for us to think about the structures and foundations in our lives. Capricorn is a cardinal earth sign, which is associated with renewal and initiation. With the sun in Capricorn, we’re being called to make big plans for the year ahead in order to set ourselves up for success and make our dreams a reality. Delayed gratification is the name of the game, but we’re given this cardinal burst of energy to build towards a prosperous future. If we are willing to put in the work and develop the skills necessary in the areas of our life that need it most, we will be rewarded.

This Capricorn season will be particularly abundant in terms of a resurgence of energy as it also begins right after Jupiter makes its return into Aries (on December 20th) after a quick stint earlier in 2022. Aries is also a cardinal sign which loves to initiate and forge a new path, and when it is in Jupiter, this is an ideal time to confidently take charge. With all of this cardinal energy happening, we should be feeling extra motivated to finish what we’ve started earlier in the year when Jupiter was in Aries, and rekindle the spark in this specific area of your chart. As the new calendar year approaches, we’re given this opportunity to connect with our innermost passions to take risks and try something new. What do you want to continue growing and working on? Where are you noticing energy in your life? Look to the house that Aries rules in your chart.

The start of Capricorn season on the 21st also marks the beginning of the Winter solstice in the Northern Hemisphere, and the Summer solstice in the Southern Hemisphere. Regardless of which hemisphere you are in, a solstice is the perfect time to start fresh and channel this seasonal shift into energy towards what you want to focus on as the new year approaches.

On top of that, we’re also starting off Cap season with a powerful new moon in Capricorn, taking place on Friday December 23rd. New moons can always feel like a fresh start, and with the energetic shift from the solstice, this new moon especially feels like an ideal opportunity for us to energetically align with our intentions. At the same time, with the structure that Capricorn energy provides us with, we’re being asked to commit to our intentions and stick to it.

In terms of setting our intentions with this new moon, pay close attention to the house that Capricorn rules in your chart, as this is the area that is being activated. For example - if Capricorn falls in your 6th house, you can focus on personal health and getting a routine in order to set you up for success. If Capricorn falls in your 11th house, how can you provide more support and structure to a friend or social cause that might need your attention?

Now let’s talk about Kim Taehyung - Bangtan’s resident Capricorn! Taehyung has a Capricorn stellium as he has his Sun, Mercury and Mars as well as his Uranus and Neptune all in the sign of the goat. Tae possesses the typical Capricorn traits of ambition, a love of luxury and he carries a nostalgia for the old ways of living. (See his love of jazz music, vintage clothing, his overall vibe!).

As he gets older, it’s clear that the thing that is most Capricornian thing about Tae is the amount of pressure and high standards he puts on himself to create and produce. It’s probably why his mixtape took so long because he is striving for perfection! Oftentimes Capricorn placements can feel lazy or like they’re not doing enough because they limit themselves from trying if they feel something is not going to live up to their expectations. Hopefully the extra cardinal energy from Jupiter in Aries this season will give Taehyung, along with all fellow Capricorn placements, the extra confidence to just go for it but be patient with yourself in the process!

Let’s not forget to give a big Cap season shoutout to Jin’s Capricorn Venus - making him the consistent and stable king he is of the group. Capricorns are about providing for those they love, and it’s never transactional. Jin embodies the stability and dependability of a Capricorn.

For all of the serious Saturnian energy that Capricorn season might bring, we can’t forget that Capricorn is a sign that works hard, but plays even harder. There is something silly and chaotic about Capricorns, probably because they know that life is short and sometimes you just need to risk it all because the reward might be even greater on the other side. So while you’re busy planning and strategizing all that you want to accomplish in the new year, don’t forget to be kind to yourself in the process and say fuck it, have some fun too.
