SEVEN OF CUPS

The Seven of Cups as interpreted by kat fukui & Kat J.

The Seven of Cups is often depicted as a card of confusion, overindulgence, or delusion due to too many options. It can be totally overwhelming to sit in the fog, unsure of which cup to choose. We may feel pressure to make the “right” choice, even when we aren’t ready.

And what’s the rush? Instead of logically weighing the options, when’s the last time we let ourselves fantasize about what could be, without attachment to the outcomes? Nothing is certain, so why not let ourselves bask in the dream glow?

We don’t need to hastily decide; just sit in the “what ifs” and soak in the potential storylines. I love the dreamy and foggy universe Kat has created in this card; one of inner listening and acceptance that the cups are unpredictable. “Sometimes my dreams come true, Sometimes they turn to blue” — We’re allowed to change our minds, make mistakes, and bounce around to different cups as our dreams and desires change. We can wait and marinate, until the moment of clarity finds us.

Artist’s Interpretation of the Seven of Cups by @cutiesexylonely

Kat brought up the idea of “Dream Glow” for this card. Pink and dreamy with high saturation for a mix of fantasy. I tried to use photos of the members that evoked a sense of peace and patience, embracing the chaos and beauty of what could be. Although I’ve listened to Dream Glow a billion times, when Kat wrote in her description, “sometimes my dreams come true, sometimes they turn to blue” I felt the impact of those words and included them in the card. That line alone, for me, continues to reinforce the idea of being present and open to accept what’s to come.
