THE HANGED MAN
The Hanged Man is card 12 of the Major Arcana, and one that I always put into context with its ensuing card — Death. Meaning, this is the soupy space we must sit in before a transformation. It is the time to invite stillness, even if it’s uncomfortable. The more we struggle, the less we hear our own inner knowing. And so, we can be curious about where this discomfort is coming from. Listen deeply in this stillness to our needs, no matter how quiet the voice. Release what isn’t working in order to make room for change.
If we’re able to hang tight and surrender to the process of shedding, The Hanged Man helps us see from different perspectives. I love Ba’s interpretation of Jimin, as I think he’s exhibited his ability to make shifts by remembering to return inwards. I think of PTD in LA Jimin, and how unusually self-conscious he was. There was a quietness that he seemingly needed to retreat to, in order to come back in full confidence for PTD Seoul (you know what I’m talking about). Jimin embodies The Hanged Man because he doesn’t look away from the mirror-he sees himself from all angles, until he gently re-members what he’s here to do.

“Listening deeply to ourselves so that we can tune out what’s expected of us.” Kirstin dropped this line at me while Anna and Kirstin were helping me weed out my thoughts over this card. It was then that Jimin felt like he was imprinted into my mind, washed with the colors of medicine.
Jimin embodies The Hanged Man to me because of his innate ability to access introspection. His myriad of perspectives come from resonation. Jimin grew so metamorphically into himself, followed where his true self was trying to lead him. He is still so young and his journey is getting more colorful. I think of Filter. I think of the vast Queer community of ARMYs who stand tall by him. I want him to love who he has become and love that inner mirror he looks into where he found himself.
