THE LOVERS – you got me // i got you
VMin as the Lovers?? During a collective 💘lovers💘 year?* Stunning! Actually groundbreaking! We absolutely love to see it.
Number six in the major arcana – and, in many figurative decks, the first card in the deck to feature two figures – the lovers is often aligned with the mercurial duality & (self)-twinship of Gemini. Big Mikrokosmos – “you got me // I got you” – vibes. Literally, please trot along to YouTube and watch the below (or any!) live performance of Mikrokosmos; even & especially if you simply fast-forward to the timestamp of the VMin moment (for reference, in the below, the timestamp is 2:59. YOU’RE WELCOME).
The energy of the lovers is so very clearly embodied in external relationship within the VMin of it all – the other as mirror & reflection, as a repeated & devotional choice, as a pattern for a softer way of seeing oneself. And the lovers is embodied in internal self-relationship – in choosing to be present with oneself (even when it’s difficult); in engaging oneself in dialogue & truly listening; in prioritizing one’s own needs, desires, and identity.
Questions the lovers ask us, especially in this collective lovers year, might look like: how can I be with me? How can I believe me? How can I follow the thread connecting me to me, & choose to commit to the potential discomfort of remaining bound?
*numerologically, the major arcana tarot card for the collective year is calculated by adding together the year’s numbers: 2 + 0 + 2 + 2 = 6. In the tarot, the major arcana cards associated with 6 are the 💘lovers💘 (6) and the 😈devil😈 (15 / 1+5).
Artist’s Interpretation of The Lovers by Nanda
Hello! I hope you liked my interpretation of “The Lovers” card!
For this card I focused on three main concepts that most resonated with me during our conversation with Sam: dialogue-reflection-partnership, and for that reason I chose VMin as the protagonists of this illustration.
If you somehow don’t know it already, Jimin and Taehyung consider themselves Soulmates! And as for me, I feel like this card belongs to their history and their beautiful bond.
So Jimin and Tae on this card are basically their own reflection, making a shape of a heart with their hands which are being held together by the Red String of Fate: “The two people connected by the red thread are destined lovers, regardless of time, place, or circumstances,” under a sunny sky.
For me, The Lovers is about self reflection, making choices and being kind to yourself when making decisions, and VMin’s friendship is also about that - talking, understanding, moving on.
