Happy Birthday j-hope!

Happy Birthday to our dearest Jung Hoseok aka j-hope aka uarmyhope aka Hobi! There’s so much to gush about over this Aquarian and Piscean king. Hobi is the dictionary definition of our hope, a human battery, our source of the best candid photos/videos (Hobi gallery!), and owner of the most infectious laugh.

As a dedicated Hobi stan and tarot reader, I’ve been thinking about which tarot archetypes I connect with him with these days. I landed on the Six of Swords and Knight of Cups.

While The Sun and The Star are solid associations, I often think about the ways in which Hobi expresses both despair and hope. To me, the Six of Swords represents a lot of that—fear of not knowing where the boat is headed, yet understanding it’s an expansive place.

And even with those internal struggles, I think the Knight of Cups captures how nurturing and devoted Hobi is to his fellow members and ARMY. Throughout the ebb and flow of BTS’ career, he’s been able to keep his cup filled so he can extend that care. He can be that consistent source of stability—and perhaps being that symbol of hope is what fills his cup.

It’s difficult upholding a name like “j-hope” as an international superstar, with the pressure of achieving the next thing always in the back of your mind. But I think Hobi handles this with grace and tenderness, and if you couldn’t already tell… I love him!! 🥺

To wrap up this bday post, we prepared a collective reading for ARMY in honor of Hobi season!

Four of Swords rx — Hi friends. Have you been hydrating, doing nothing, resting, allowing yourself to just be? Maybe it’s been just a little bit easier to give yourself permission to do so these days. Maybe this rest has illuminated what you’d like more or less of in your day to day. Every time we resist the urge to push our bodies, we create lasting habits of care for ourselves, and ultimately others. And if you still need time to hibernate from the pace of structures outside your control, that’s okay too!

Strength — Every day, like the sun, your heart does its good work. And right now, it wants you to listen. Maybe you’re facing challenges, maybe you’re overwhelmed, maybe you’re not sure what tomorrow’s going to look like. Don’t expect yourself to be fearless right now. That’s not what courage is. Instead, be gentle with those tender-belly parts of you, the ones you’re trying to protect even from yourself. Do what you need to do to soothe your nervous system and make space. What do your fears and demons have to say? What emotions might lie beneath your thoughts? Can you be discerning enough with your boundaries to create enough safety, even temporary, for yourself? Trust in your resilience and the wisdom of your intuition, moment by moment.

Queen of Swords — Honestly my jaw dropped when I drew the Queen of Swords. A major air card for our Aquarian birthday boy himself? Perfection. The Queen of Swords is about finding the balance between accommodating others and standing up for ourselves. It’s a reminder of the importance of setting strong boundaries, and that enforcing those boundaries does not need to be an act of aggression. Of course, when pressed the Queen can become sharp-tongued, but typically they prefer to lead by example, to model the proper way of behaving in their presence by treating others in that regard and accepting nothing less in return. This card is a reminder that we do not need to prepare for battle; simply stating our needs will do, and that being flexible and diplomatic does not need to mean turning into a doormat. Where do you need to channel a bit more of the Queen of Swords’ calm confidence? Where are you failing to stand up for yourself and how can you do it in a way that grants you power rather than making you feel vulnerable?
